Back to my daily accumulator. Today’s one is quite big, I put all selections together, but of course you may stick to singles or to a reduced acca with the ones you feel the most:
Euro 2012, Ukraine v France – France @ 2.00
At the Donbass Arena the hosts are facing France, who had a not fully satisfying start vs England. Ukraine will desperately try not to lose first, they have good players such as Konoplyanka, Yarmolenko, Shevchenko and Tymoschuk, that is the real key to protect their shaky defence and heartbreaking goalkeeper. Ukraine showed far too many weaknesses there vs Sweden, and had some luck not to ship more goals, hadn’t Sweden wasted a couple of huge opportunities.
France didn’t show as much against England, but their potential is much higher than that, mainly in attacking. Benzema was strangely asked to play a lot out of the box in the first match, but I expect him to cause many more damages vs a much weaked defence than England. Same for Ribery, that will hardly be limited this time. Another draw could be very very dangerous for Les Bleus and I expect them to go for a win and nothing else.
I don’t have clear thoughts about Sweden v England. Ibrahimovic is doubtful and there are rumors of troubles involving him against all the technical staff and most of the players. Shouldn’t he be available then England’s win at @ 2.20 could be a good punt, but this can be seen when the final line-ups will be available.
Argentina Clausura, Lanus v Union de Santa Fe – Lanus @ 1.80
I don’t fancy too much South American leagues, mainly Brazil, but I like this pick. Lanus are a much better team than Union, and now that they are free from the Copa Libertadores committments I expect from them some good performances. They have won all last 4 matches played at Estadio Lanús, while Union have 3D and 2L in last 5 away games. Home Win for me.
Iceland Premier, Stjarnan v Valur – Stjarnan @ 2.00
As you’ve surely noticed I like Scandinavian leagues. Stjarnan haven’t won any of their 2 home matches played this season, so you could wonder where my tip comes from ! They met a good Fylkir in the opening match of the season and table leaders Akranes, ending with 2 draws, 2-2 and 1-1 respectively. So as you see they are a side that easily scores goals but can’t defend at all. Their todays’ opponents Valur aren’t a goalscoring side though, and if you don’t score enough vs Stjarnan on their artificial turf it’s quite unlikely to keep them out. Last season Stjarnan won 5-0 here, so I fancy another home win at evens.
Iceland Premier, Akranes v Vestmannaeyjar – Under 3 goals @ 1.75
Aaarrgh, I clicked on an under ! My fingers feel very bad when it comes to click on an under’s, button indeed. Football for me is entertaiment and scoring goals. More previous 2 home matches of table leaders Akranes ended 3-2, so why on earth did I pick this ? Akranes are obviously a good side that had an impressive start of the season. They attack well and defend bad, hence their many overs. But today they meet Vestmannaeyjar, that attack bad on the road but defend properly. True that they shipped 6 goals in 3 away matches so far, but 4 of them were penalties ! Quite amazing..So, avoiding to make errors in their box should help their cause a lot. The odds are good for an under 3 goals, so I gladly ( well, forcing my overish nature..) take them.
Iceland 1 Deild, Leiknir v Fjolnir – Over 2.5 goals @ 1.53
Fjolnir are one ov my favourite overish side, mainly when playing on the road ( they have a 6-2 and 5-0 wins in last 2 travels ). Their last 3 matches all went over 3.5, and to be blunt the odds for over 2.5 should be much lower according to my stats, something like @ 1.30. Hence some value here.
